The Most Visited Prague Sights

Congress participants do not have as much time as leisure travelers do so they focus on the must-see sights and places which they can cover in several hours during the afternoon break or evening.

Their tour around Prague typically starts on the Old Town Square in front of the Old Town Hall where they join the large crowd of tourists waiting for the hourly show of the Astronomical Clock. The Astronomical Clock is not just showing four kinds of time and position of major objects on the sky but also announcing each hour with comprehensive performance of wooden motion figures, sounds and chime of bells.

Once the Clock show is over and the crowd of tourists stops applauding, our event participants stroll a while around the Old Town Square. They admire the medieval houses of the Old Town Hall, take pictures of and then eat the medieval Czech sweet specialty called "trdelnik" made and sold in numerous booths along the square and explore the formerly fortified Gothic Tyn Church with its adjacent Baroque palaces and passages. After a short visit to the Church interior they turn around and walk the King's Route through the Old Town towards the Charles Bridge.

Then, after walking through the gate of the Old Town Bridge Tower and entering onto the bridge itself, they get overwhelmed by the breathtaking skyline of Lesser Town with Prague Castle on top of the hill and River Vltava beneath it. There are many other castles, many bigger and older cathedrals, many other medieval or even antic cities, but the unique feature of the Prague Castle is its location on the top of the hill just above the river. This makes the whole view so intensive and unrepeatable.

So our event participant on his or her short city exploration tour will slowly advance over the bridge, making stops at each pillar balcony to gain the best possible view of the whole skyline and all its details. Being there for the first time is really a strong experience.

Once over the bridge, the visitor has several options based on the time available - to continue on the King´s Road up to the Castle, to descend the stairs to the left side of the bridge and walk around marvelous streets of Island of Kampa, or to climb the ladders of the Lesser Town Bridge Tower to see the city from the above.
